Edgewood posts decisive win over Cloverdale 62 - 46

After two attempts at an opening game got postponed by weather, the Mustangs were chomping at the bit to play and came out of the gate strong in an impressive 62 - 46 win against visiting Cloverdale. Edgewood's defense limited the Clovers to only 4 first-half field goals as they raced out to a 36 - 13 halftime lead. The Mustangs dominated the glass against the Clovers and their 6'10" center, limiting their guests to only 3 offensive rebounds (plus 2 more in the final 30 seconds) while grabbing 14 offensive boards of their own. Caden Jones led the way for Edgewood with 22 points and 10 rebounds, while AJ Norris scored 14 and added 3 assists. In addition, Carter Hayden scored 10 points while keeping his much taller opponent off the glass, Reece Roberts had 6 points and 4 assists, and Evan Jacobs scored 4 points, grabbed 7 rebounds and had 3 steals. Finally, Dylan Wickens and Zane Powell both had 3 points to complete the scoring for the Mustangs. Edgewood is back in action on Saturday night when they travel to North Putnam to open Western Indiana Conference play.
